It's Bigger Than You...

Updated: Nov 25, 2019

Today is Friday, October 25, 2019. Yesterday was a rough day. The day started off great. I had an early leg day workout with a friend. The workout felt good. I was excited about yet another great workout in the books. However, there was something else that I was excited about.

I was more excited that I had a lunch date with my beautiful sister, best-selling author and my favorite light, Em Boogie! Emily Hayes is more than a friend. She is a beautiful light that impacts any and everyone she comes in contact with. Her new book, Beyond The Shadows Freedom To Embrace The Light Within, is so amazing.

So, our lunch date was amazing. We caught each other on up some great things going on in both our lives. However, as we were walking back to the truck, I started to feel nauseous. As we started driving, I told Emily that all of a sudden I felt hot. She recognized that I was sweating. I held back the feeling of having to “call Earl(hurl)” and dropped Emily off. I then had the longest drive ever trying to get home.

To not bore you or gross you out with how the rest of my Thursday went, let’s just say that I could not keep food down. My wife, Felicia, is an amazing nurse

(given the title by me) any time there is something going on with me. So she took great care of me last night. I woke up this morning feeling much better. As I built up the strength to walk downstairs and get something to eat, I received a phone call. On the other end of the call, was one of my neighbors speaking frantically. She asked if I could come look at a leak in their house to see if it were coming through the roof. I responded sure.

As I’m heading out of the door, I hear a dripping noise. There was a leak in the window in our house, that I had repaired a few times, with the last time being done by a professional company. I laid towels down on the seal, and proceeded to go to my neighbor’s house. The smile on their faces when I finish checking on their issue made everything worth it. As I drove back home, I could not help but to think about life.

Many times in life we get so caught up in what we have going on, that we don’t have time to be a light or be a blessing to someone else. As Emily illustrates in her book, our light is given to us to shine for others. You should ask yourself a question everyday. Who is in the dark, because I’m not sharing my light? My career, my website, my blog, my mission is to share my light, love and positivity with as many people as I can in the time and space that I have.

After you read this blog entry, commit yourself to sharing your light. Commit yourself to helping someone smile a little brighter. Commit to being that ripple that will positively effect everything around you. Think about what our world would be like, if we all made a concerted effort to do this on a daily basis. Remember, it’s bigger than you.
